Your Rights Under Title IX

Title IX protects students against sex and gender-based discrimination in education programs or activities that receive federal funding.

This can include harassment or discrimination based on gender for both cisgender students and trans students, harassment or discrimination based on actual or perceived sexual orientation, and sexual harassment. It includes harassment from teachers and administrators, as well as from other students.

You have the right to:

  • Get an equal education
  • Be free from discrimination
  • Feel safe at school
  • Report sexual harassment
  • Have action taken by your school to prevent sexual harassment
