If a caller discloses being in danger, immediately clarify the type of danger.

  • If the person has a medical emergency, offer to call 911 with them. 
  • If the caller has a physical safety concern or a violence-related situation, offer to call the nearest police department with them.
  • If the person is experiencing a mental health or suicide risk crisis, offer to call 988 with them.
