If reporting is required, your child may feel scared or betrayed if they don’t understand why. Explain the process gently and ahead of time if possible.
Say, “Some adults are required to get extra help when kids might not be safe. That doesn’t mean you did anything wrong. It means more people are helping protect you.” Stay emotionally close throughout the process.
