Your child can get in trouble (at school, as well as get into legal trouble) for having an explicit picture someone else sent them, especially if they asked for it or sent it on to other people.
If the picture was sent to them without their consent, they should not keep it unless it is evidence of ongoing harassment (for example, from an ex-girlfriend or boyfriend).
