Our Story

For nearly 50 years, The Rowan Center has served as a trusted resource in our community, working to prevent sexual violence and trauma while supporting survivors and families on their path to healing.

The Rowan Center began in 1979 as a small crisis response program supporting survivors arriving at Stamford Hospital. Over the past four decades, the organization has grown alongside the needs of the community, expanding from crisis intervention to prevention education, advocacy, and long-term trauma therapy. Today, our work continues to evolve, grounded in the belief that preventing violence, responding with compassion, and supporting healing are all essential to creating safer communities.
