Over the summer, The Rowan Center celebrated the first anniversary of our Trauma Recovery Clinic, a groundbreaking initiative rooted in our mission to provide a continuum of care for victims/survivors of trauma. We’re proud to recognize how the clinic has already made a profound difference in the lives of survivors and our broader community.
In the first year, the team facilitated 1,141 clinic sessions! These sessions represent so much more than impressive statistics—they reflect stories of healing, resilience, and, for many, a chance for a new, better life.
Designed to provide free, long-term trauma therapy to survivors who may not otherwise have access to care, the clinic is a lifeline for individuals navigating the complex, often invisible aftermath of not only sexual violence, but all forms of trauma.
EMDR: A Game-Changer in Trauma Therapy
One of the most powerful tools we offer is EMDR therapy, an evidence-based approach that has been transformative for many of our clients. The feedback we’ve received from those who’ve engaged in EMDR sessions is clear: this method helps survivors reduce the intensity of trauma symptoms and regain a sense of control over their lives. In fact, our pilot data showed clients receiving EMDR experienced, on average, a 64% reduction in PTSD symptom severity.
Built By and For the Community
This clinic is the result of years of vision, determination, and community support. From board members and donors to clinicians and advocates, every person who played a role in launching and sustaining the clinic has our deepest gratitude. We also thank the clients who have entrusted us with their healing. Your strength inspires us daily.
The first year of the Trauma Recovery Clinic is only the beginning. In the coming months and years, we will continue to expand our services, break down barriers to care, and grow a network of support that empowers survivors and strengthens our community.
We are also focused on sharing our work with all communities. In July 2025, we launched the Trauma Fellowship Program, which hires 2-3 new clinicians out of their graduate programs, trains them in trauma-informed long-term therapy modalities, and, after three years with us, launches them to other organizations that need these incredibly talented clinicians. It’s our way of giving back to the communities that have been so good to us, and to all victims and survivors of trauma.
As we recognize one year of impact at the Trauma Recovery Clinic, we invite you to celebrate this milestone with us, not only by honoring what we’ve accomplished, but by joining us in the journey ahead. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply sharing our story, your support makes healing possible.
