Quick Exit

This is one of the hardest parts of parenting in this space. Your fear makes sense. But when fear shows up as panic, lectures, or worst-case scenarios, children often stop talking.

If you feel flooded, it’s okay to pause. You can say, “I’m feeling a lot because I care about you. I want to take a breath so I can listen well.” That models emotional regulation and tells your child that big feelings don’t end connection.
